Background and aim: Pre-hospital emergency workers who are responsible for providing basic pre-hospital medical services are exposed to physical and mental disorders. Since musculoskeletal disorders can be affected by work stress and fatigue, This study was conducted with the aim of determining the relationship between occupational stress and fatigue and the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in pre-hospital emergency workers in Saveh city. Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was cross-sectional in2023.88 people from the personnel of urban and road pre-hospital emergency centers of Saveh city were included in the study by census method. Data collection was done using occupational stress (HSE), occupational fatigue (MFI) and Nordic questionnaires. Data were analyzed with SPSS22 software and using independent t-test, analysis of variance, Poisson regression and Pearson correlation coefficient. Result: The most common areas involved in musculoskeletal disorders were the back (34.1%),neck (19.3%) and upper back(19.3%) with a frequency of 30,17and 17people,respectively. The average overall score of job stress was113.52±4.09 and job fatigue was 62.95±5.06. Musculoskeletal disorders had a significant relationship with marital status, workplace, age, work experience and number of working hours (p-value ≤0.05)).Also, there was no significant relationship between occupational stress and occupational fatigue (p=0.28), musculoskeletal disorders with occupational stress (p-value=0.93) and musculoskeletal disorders with fatigue (p-value=0.44). Conclusion: The prevalenceof musculoskeletal disorders was relatively high, and considering that these disorders are less in single people than married people and less in people who work in the city than those who work on the road, the necessary training should be given to people to be given according to their place of work. With the increase in age and work experience, musculoskeletal disorders increase, and it is necessary to take precautions in this regard. Also, because musculoskeletal disorders increase with the increase of working hours, it is necessary to adjust working hours and avoid long-term shifts. |
